Data Privacy and Accessibility Strategist
EdTech Leaders Alliance - Denver, Colorado or Remote - Full time

The Data Privacy Strategist plays a mission-critical role in advancing Learn21 and the EdTech Leaders Alliances (ETLA) commitment to supporting K12 schools in Colorado through secure, responsible, and effective technology use. This forward-thinking educator will lead professional development around student data privacy, process DPA (Data Privacy Agreement) requests in the SDPC Registry, and serve as the primary point of contact for Colorado schools seeking support around privacy best practices.

The ideal candidate is a former educator or EdTech Coach with deep roots in K12 environments, a passion for empowering school communities, and a drive to make data privacy approachable, practical, and impactful. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position contributes to Learn21/ETLA success by:

  • Deliver professional development workshops (virtual and in-person) for educators, administrators, and tech leaders across Colorado on student data privacy, digital safety, and accessibility requirements.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for Colorado schools with privacy-related questions, including those about FERPA, COPPA, CIPA, House Bill 14-1294, Student Data Transparency and Security Act (SDTSA), Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), and local policies.
  • Serve as the point of contact for Colorado schools with accessibility questions related to House Bill 21-1110 and local policies.
  • Manage DPA requests via the SDPC Registry and coordinate communications between schools, vendors, and Learn21/ETLA partners.
  • Manage accessibility compliance requests via the SDPC Registry and coordinate communications between schools, vendors, and Learn21/ETLA partners.
  • Translate laws and best practices into practical guidance for school personnel.
  • Collaborate with the Learn21 and ETLA teams to co-create tools, templates, and communications that support statewide data privacy efforts.
  • Represent Learn21/ETLA at Colorado education events, conferences, and district meetings.
  • Participate in internal projects and provide responsive, mission-driven service to our Colorado partners.
  • Stay current on privacy trends, legislation, and best practices and translate them into understandable, relevant guidance for school-based stakeholders.
  • Maintain detailed records of support services provided and contribute to reporting metrics as needed.
  • Represent Learn21 at state and regional education events and contributing to our mission as a thought leader in the privacy space.
  • Support special projects and respond flexibly to the evolving needs of schools across Colorado.
  • Collaborating with colleagues from other teams to develop resources and provide feedback on design, functionality, and content for a variety of projects.
  • Interacting with clients and conducting research, interviews, analysis, and participating in client meetings.
  • Effectively and efficiently communicating with clients and colleagues in a timely and professional manner and with a positive tone.
  • Working closely within a team and goal-oriented environment, in a proactive manner, assuming such responsibilities as are necessary to get the job done (i.e., no such thing as 'not my job').

YOU ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Accessibility in public education;
  • Data privacy and cybersecurity and laws impacting the use of technology in K-12 education;
  • Principles and methods for training, design, teaching, and instruction for adult learners;
  • Web-based technologies and their effect on the teaching and learning experience, including their capabilities and limitations;
  • Popular edtech solutions for delivering instructional and interactive content to mobile devices, creating, curating, and sharing content, and facilitating virtual real-time collaboration; and,

YOU ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE A BACKGROUND IN FOLLOWING AREAS:

  • Proven ability to deliver creative and authoritative copy within diverse content ranges;
  • Experience in designing and leading educational technology initiatives, including developing comprehensive online resources for K-12 educators;
  • Demonstrated skill in integrating multimedia content for effective presentations;
  • Versatile content creation abilities, from editorial content to interactive media and instructional materials;
  • Ability to create impactful marketing campaigns and educational materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Must reside anywhere in the state of Colorado
  • At least 4 years of experience in K12 education
  • Demonstrated experience delivering engaging presentations or professional development sessions
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with productivity tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, LLMs, etc.)
  • Experience leading professional learning, training sessions, or public presentations
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed
  • Proficient in productivity tools such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Willing to travel up to 25% (mostly within Colorado)
  • Bachelors Degree in education, educational technology, educational administration, or related field.

Preferred:

  • Experience as an EdTech Coach, Instructional Technology Specialist, or similar role
  • Familiarity with student data privacy concerns in education (training provided)
  • Masters Degree in education, educational technology, educational administration, or related field.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: $60,000$75,000 per year

  • Annual performance bonus up to 10% of salary (70% individual / 30% organizational performance)
  • Additional annual surplus bonus based on Learn21s financial performance and individual review

  • Technology Equipment: $500 per year reimbursement for technology purchases
  • Memberships/Streaming Services: $100 per year reimbursement for professional memberships or streaming tools

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This remote position requires a home office setup with reliable internet access. Travel within Colorado may include school visits, conferences, and regional trainings (up to 25%).Some light lifting of materials (up to 25 lbs) may be required when attending in-person events.
