Scope of Position

The Environmental Health & Safety Manager (EHS Manager) plays a key role in ensuring a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace at our manufacturing facility. This position partners with leaders at all levels, engages employees in safety culture, leads inspections and investigations, and manages programs that reduce risk and maintain regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, tools, and procedures to eliminate risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead and conduct EHS training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors; maintain training records.
  • Facilitate safety teams, first responder meetings, and EHS committees; serve as a key leader in these activities.
  • Perform workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments; track corrective and preventive actions to closure.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and support corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Drive awareness campaigns, educational programs, and communication of EHS issues across all levels and shifts.
  • Oversee emergency response planning, training, and drills; provide leadership during emergency situations.
  • Support reviews of new or modified processes, equipment, or facilities to identify potential hazards and recommend controls.
  • Analyze EHS performance data, identify trends, and prioritize risk-reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Allegion EHS teams on initiatives such as ergonomic risk reduction, machine guarding, LOTO, and ISO programs.
  • Manage EHS-related equipment purchases, ensuring compliance with standards and suitability for operations.
  • Stay current with regulatory updates and industry best practices; pursue ongoing professional development.
  • Provide leadership on special projects and additional EHS initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across all levels in a matrix organization.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Willingness to travel 5–10% as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or CEM.
  • Familiarity with International Building Code, NFPA standards, and FM Global requirements.
  • Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or OHSAS 18001.
