Event Staff

Pay rate : $28.15 per hour.

Position type: As needed (PRN).

Job Location: Gainesville, GA.

Job Description:

Operates two Convention Centers in Northeast Georgia, one located in Gainesville, GA and one in Cumming, GA. Included in these centers are meeting facilities that can accommodate 2 to 1,400 attendees, a 14,000 square ft ballroom that can be divided into smaller rooms, and a full catering kitchen. These facilities are used to host trade shows, conventions, corporate functions, special events, weddings, and non-profit events. The events can last from an hour to an entire week. To prepare for these events, we need to have the ability to set up, breakdown, and clean up quickly.

  • Consistently lift and move furniture and equipment including tables, chairs, podiums, stages, dance floors, and audio/visual equipment, which would frequently include heavy lifting.
  • Reposition heavy partitions.
  • Setting tables including linens and tableware.
  • For back-to-back events, we could need up to 40 people available on short notice, which means that they would need to live in close proximity to both facilities.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which would frequently include very early morning, late evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
  • Must be available on short notice and frequently will be required to work a split shift, also events can end early or last longer than expected, so start time could be adjusted on short notice.
  • Since the size of each event and the frequency of events can vary greatly, we need to pay per person per hour with no minimum number of hours.
  • The ability to work in a coordinated environment with minimal supervision is very important.
  • As much as possible we would like a repeat crew that was familiar with our setup guidelines and the storage location of the items to be used in set up.
  • Check equipment for damages or missing parts.
  • Back-to-back events could involve cleanup that must meet predefined requirements.
