Since our founding in 2007, BLOC Coffee Company has cared about three things - Coffee, Community, and Change.

Our shop was formed out of a need. BLOC Ministries is an inner city ministry that wanted to create a place for people to gather. They wanted to have a place for people to exist in community- a place that would foster creativity and camaraderie. Thus we were born. 12 years later, we're still here - and constantly working on ways to serve our community better.

Position Summary:

The BLOC Coffee Company is part of BLOC Ministries. BlOC Coffee Company is opening a location in Metzcor. The barista will be responsible for the day to day operations of BLOC Coffee Company and building relationships with customers.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Prepares quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Also, follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products.
• Prepares breakfast and lunch items on the grill and pizzas on Fridays
• Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission
• Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to standard, and set a positive example for the team.
• Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
• Follows operational policies and procedures, including safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift.
• Delivers legendary customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude by building relationships and connecting with the customer.
• Discovers and responds to customer needs in a timely manner.

Requirements:

• Lift and carry boxes, books, and other merchandise.
• Ability to stand for up to two or more hours at any given time.
• Ability to safely operate coffee equipment as necessary
• Previous experience in a coffee shop, caf environment a plus
• Detail-orientation in performing accurate transactions
• Self-motivated and multi-tasks with minimal supervision
• Proactively meets both internal and external customer needs.
• Effective work methods and consistently meets commitments
• Effective communication skills- clear, concise and positive.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel and bend.

Monday-Friday 9am-2pm

Saturday/Sunday - Closed

Government holidays - Closed
