Substitute Teacher - OSD Retired Teachers ONLY (2025-2026 SY) Join to apply for the Substitute Teacher - OSD Retired Teachers ONLY (2025-2026 SY) role at OXNARD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT Responsibilities Reports to the principal/school office manager upon arrival, 15 minutes before the official school opening. Maintains, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which the substitute is assigned. Teaches the lessons outlined and described in the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher. Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods. Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates. Assumes all of the after‑school duties of the absent teacher, up to the 8‑hour duty day, as directed by the principal and/or learning director. Remains in the assigned classroom until 15 minutes after the official school closing or until dismissed. Writes a brief log of work completed at the end of each teaching day, leaving it for the regular classroom teacher. Reports to the building principal/school office manager at the conclusion of the teaching day, verifying whether services will be required on the next teaching day. Qualifications Ability to meet district standards for physical and mental health. Evidence of good moral character. Satisfactory recommendations from training supervisors or other professionals who have observed the candidate's personal characteristics, scholastic achievement, and job‑related performance. Alternatives to the above qualifications may be considered as the district deems appropriate. Application Requirements Applicants must submit the following: TB Screening Result (if results on file are more than 4 years old). Single Subject Teaching Credential – Other (any single subject authorization). Multiple Subject Teaching Credential – General Subjects. Additionally, if the applicant has not worked for the district in the past 6 months, fingerprints must be taken again.
